Terms of use

Our terms, in plain language

themi.pro is a studio site. It shows our themes, hosts their documentation, and runs our support inbox — nothing is bought or licensed here, because that happens on the Shopify Theme Store. These terms cover the part we do run: this website, the documentation, and the support we provide.

What these terms cover

These terms apply to this website, the documentation we publish on it, and the support we provide through our contact form and support inbox. By using the site or writing to us, you agree to them. How we handle personal data is set out separately in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

Buying, licensing, and refunds happen on Shopify

We do not sell anything on this site and we never process a payment. Our themes are distributed through the Shopify Theme Store, and everything transactional about them — the purchase, the license it grants, how many stores that license covers, and refunds — is handled by Shopify under Shopify's terms of service and the Theme Store's own license terms. Not by us.

So if you need a refund, a receipt, a license moved to a different store, or a billing question answered, Shopify Support is the right place — and the only place that can act on it. If the reason you want a refund is that something in the theme is broken, please contact us first. Fixing our own bugs is exactly what support is for, and it is usually faster than a refund.

Theme updates are free

When we release a new version of a theme you own, it costs you nothing — install it from your Shopify admin whenever you are ready. We publish what changed in each release so you can see it before you update. Updating replaces the theme's code, so duplicate your live theme and preview the new version before you publish it, and re-apply any code edits of your own afterwards.

Our themes and this site remain ours

The themes, the code behind them, their designs, this website, its text, and its screenshots are our intellectual property. Buying a theme through the Shopify Theme Store gives you the rights that the Theme Store license grants you — broadly, to use it on the store you bought it for and to modify your own copy of it. It does not transfer ownership, and it does not allow you to resell, sublicense, or redistribute the theme, or to publish its code elsewhere.

Our documentation is yours to use

The documentation exists to be used, so we would rather be explicit than vague about it. You are welcome to read it, print it, link to it, and share it with anyone working on your store — a developer, an agency, a colleague. Any code snippet we publish in the documentation may be copied into your own store and adapted freely, with no attribution and no permission needed. That is what it is there for.

The one thing we ask is that you do not republish the documentation itself as your own: mirroring it, selling it, or presenting it as another product's manual.

What support covers

Support is available 24/7, it reaches us directly, and you do not need an account to use it. It covers:

  • questions before you buy, about what a theme does and whether it fits your store;
  • how to use the theme — its settings, sections, blocks, and built-in features;
  • bugs in our theme code, which we fix;
  • finding where a setting lives and understanding what it changes;
  • help when the documentation is unclear — if it is unclear, that is a bug in the docs, and we will fix that too.

What support does not cover

We are a small studio and support is complimentary, so it has an edge. These sit outside it, with where to go instead:

  • Custom code. Writing custom HTML, CSS, Liquid, or JavaScript for your store, or changing a theme's layout beyond what its settings do. A Shopify Partner or a freelance developer can take this on.
  • Third-party apps. Installing, configuring, or debugging apps, or making an app's blocks fit the theme. The app's own developer supports their app.
  • Checkout. Checkout belongs to Shopify, not to the theme, and we cannot edit it. Contact Shopify Support.
  • Your Shopify admin. Products, shipping, taxes, payments, domains, and store settings. Contact Shopify Support.
  • SEO, analytics, and marketing pixels. Installing or troubleshooting tracking codes, or advice on search rankings.
  • Migrating from another theme, including moving your content across or reproducing another theme's layout in ours.
  • Carrying your customizations into a new theme version. If you or a developer edited the theme's code, those edits are yours to re-apply after an update.
  • Purchases, licenses, and refunds, which are Shopify's, as above.
  • Support by phone, chat, or social messaging. Everything runs through the form and our support inbox, so there is a written record for both of us.

How quickly we reply

Support is available 24/7 and we usually reply within 12 hours. That is the figure we publish because it is what actually happens, and it is a target we work hard to hold — not a contractual guarantee. Critical bugs, meaning something that stops your store from selling, jump the queue and we start on them straight away.

A modified theme is still supported, within limits

You are free to modify your copy of a theme, and many merchants do. But once the code has been edited we cannot always tell our bug from an edit, so:

  • we will still help, and we will still fix anything that is demonstrably ours;
  • we may ask you to reproduce the problem on a clean, unmodified copy of the theme — duplicating a theme in your Shopify admin takes a moment and settles the question;
  • we cannot debug, repair, or take responsibility for custom code, whoever wrote it;
  • if a theme has been changed to the point where we can no longer recognize our own code, support for that copy ends there.

Whatever you change, work on a duplicate rather than your live theme, and keep a backup before you edit anything.

What you send us

When you use the contact form or email us:

  • Send only what you have the right to send. Do not upload content that is unlawful, infringing, malicious, or someone else's private data.
  • Never send us a password. If we need access to your store to diagnose something, we will ask for a Shopify collaborator request, which you can revoke at any time and which never exposes your login. We will not ask for your password, and you should treat anyone who does with suspicion.
  • We may remove any attachment, and we may decline a request that falls outside the support described above.
  • How we store and handle everything you send is set out in our privacy policy.

When we may withdraw support

We reserve the right to restrict or end support — for a person, over conduct, never over a theme:

  • abuse, threats, or intimidation directed at anyone here;
  • language that is racist, sexist, or otherwise discriminatory;
  • demands that are repeated and unreasonable after we have already answered them;
  • attempts to obtain custom development by presenting it as a bug.

This has nothing to do with your theme license. That is Shopify's, and it stays yours regardless.

No warranty

We build carefully and we test what we ship, but this site, the documentation, and the themes are provided as they are. We do not warrant that a theme will be uninterrupted or error-free, that it will suit a particular purpose or business, or that it will stay compatible with every app and every change Shopify makes. The documentation describes the current version of a theme, so a screenshot or a setting may differ if you are running an older one. We may change, move, or retire pages on this site at any time.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of this site, our documentation, or our themes — including lost sales, lost revenue, lost data, or lost business opportunity. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law. And because we take no payment from you, any claim about a purchase, a refund, or a chargeback is a matter between you and Shopify.

Changes to these terms

If how we work changes, we will update this page and revise the date above. Continuing to use the site after that means the updated terms apply. We do not apply a change backwards to a support request already in progress.

Governing law

themi.pro is an independent studio working with merchants internationally, and we publish a brand contact rather than a registered entity. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in. If you have a dispute with us, email us first — we would far rather settle it directly. And anything concerning a purchase, a license, or a refund is governed by Shopify's own terms, because that is where the transaction happened.
