Kaolin

Home, ceramics & craft

A cooler room, and a softer edge.

The ivory turns to a green-gray chalk, Alegreya moves up into the headings with Kreon underneath it, and every corner gives back a few pixels. Quieter than the default, and kinder to matte glaze and raw wood.

The Kaolin home page: a shelf of hand-thrown vases, bowls and candlesticks photographed against a sage wall, with "What the kiln left on the shelf" in a serif, a short paragraph and a Vessels and planters button, under a rotating announcement bar and a centered wordmark.

Color

The Kaolin palette.

The same five grounds, moved to green. Chalk, sage and a deeper clay for the papers, forest and near-black below them. Terracotta is the one warm note, held back for the dark schemes that can carry it. A sixth scheme, Editorial, reuses the lightest chalk and moves the headings and buttons to forest green, for bands that want to be quieter still.

Type & shape

Alegreya Medium on Kreon.

Alegreya moves up into the display role at medium weight. It is a serif with enough color to hold a heading without raising its voice. Kreon runs the body. It is a slab with open counters that stays legible at caption size.

Every price, size chart, care note and shipping line on the storefront is set in this face. It is the one a shopper reads the longest, so it is chosen for a paragraph rather than for a headline.

Shape

Softened corners, portrait product images

Corners softened to four pixels, six on the buttons. Enough to take the edge off a grid of pale, low-contrast product shots, and not so much that the page turns into a set of pills.

The live store

Kaolin, on a real storefront.

The others

Lapels ships three presets.

One theme, one license. Switch preset in the theme editor and the storefront restyles without touching a word of your content.

Every preset is the same theme.

Kaolin is one of Lapels's built-in presets. No extra license, no separate install. Pick it when you add the theme, or switch to it later.
