Newsletter
A full-width email signup band you can drop onto the homepage or most other templates. It shows an optional heading and subheading, an email field with a submit button, and an optional background image with an adjustable overlay.

Add it from Add section → Newsletter. Configure it in the section’s settings:
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Background image | Optional image behind the form. Leave blank for a solid color background. | None |
| Overlay opacity | Darkens the background image so text stays readable. Shown only when a background image is set. | 50% |
| Heading | The headline above the form. | (theme default copy) |
| Subheading | A short supporting line of text. | (theme default copy) |
| Color scheme | Which color scheme the section uses. | Scheme 1 |
| Constrain width | Narrows the content column for a tighter, centered layout. | On |
| Top padding / Bottom padding | Vertical spacing around the section (0–120 px). | 80 px |
The email field is required and validates the address before submitting. Subscribers are tagged newsletter.
The Newsletter section submits to Shopify’s built-in customer form. When a visitor subscribes:
- They are added to your store’s customer list in Shopify admin (Customers), tagged with
newsletterso you can segment and target them. - On success the form shows your store’s confirmation message (for example, Thanks for subscribing!); on error it shows the field error inline.
Because this is the native Shopify customer form, signups flow into Shopify Email and any email/marketing app connected to your customer list. There is nothing extra to connect inside the theme.
