Blog posts

Cards for posts from one of your blogs. By default it takes the most recent ones. Name specific posts instead and it shows exactly those, in the order you list them.

What it does: Puts the writing where the shopping is. A journal nobody links to is a journal nobody reads, and the tag line above each card tells a visitor what kind of post it is before they commit to it.

The section also carries a Section spacing group. Pick a Device of Desktop or Mobile, then set Top and Bottom.

Tip

The tag over each card comes from the post’s own tags in your Shopify admin. One tag per post, used consistently, turns the row of cards into a readable set rather than three unrelated links. Layering, Craft and In-store are the example here.

Note

Show date is off by default, and that is deliberate. A post dated eighteen months ago reads as a store that has stopped writing. Turn it on only if you publish often enough for the dates to work in your favor.

Caution

A card takes its picture from the post’s featured image. A post without one leaves a card with a gap where the photograph should be. Set a featured image on every post that appears here.

When to use it: Use it on a home page to show the store has a voice, or at the foot of an article. To lay out the blog itself, that is the Blog template, not this section.
