Changelog
Theme updates for Lapels are free. When a new version ships, you can install it at any time from your Shopify admin without buying the theme again. This page records what changed in each release so you know what to expect before updating.
Entries are listed newest first, so the most recent release is always at the top. Lapels is at version 1.0.0, so there is one entry below.
1.0.0. Initial release
Section titled “1.0.0. Initial release”The first release of Lapels, a quiet, editorial theme for men’s clothing and menswear. Everything listed here is built into the theme.
- Three theme presets: Lapels, Kaolin, and Damascene. You choose one when you add the theme, and each has its own color schemes, fonts, and starting homepage.
- Six color schemes per preset, applied per section, plus separate schemes for drawers, popups, and the image viewer.
- Four font roles: heading, subheading, body, and mono. Size, line height, letter spacing, and case are controlled per heading level.
- A full section catalog, organized in the editor under Hero, Banners, Collections, Products, Gallery, Hotspot, Layout, Promotions, Storytelling, Tables, Testimonials, and Overlay. Those are the same groups this documentation uses, so the picker and the docs read as one list.
- Menswear merchandising: Shop the look, Image hotspot, a lookbook Media carousel, and a Spec table that builds a size chart, a care matrix or a comparison from columns and rows you name.
- Fit and swatches read straight from Shopify’s product options. Color swatches appear on product cards, in the variant picker, and in the filter panel, with no swatch list to maintain in the theme.
- Product pages built from blocks: media gallery and viewer, variant picker, price, inventory, quantity, buy buttons, pickup availability, accordions, share, selling plans, installments, and trust badges.
- Overlays that ship configured, not added: the cart drawer, the search drawer with suggestions as the visitor types, and quick view. They can be hidden but not removed. An optional Newsletter popup and Age verification join them in the same group, one of each, added the way any other section is.
- Cart as a drawer or a page, with a free shipping bar, cart recommendations, and a gift wrapping offer backed by a real product.
- A filter panel: collapsible groups, swatch filters in grid or list form, sidebar or drawer layout, and optional automatic apply.
- A motion system with one dial: Full, Subtle, or None. It covers scroll reveals, stagger, smooth scrolling, and hover zoom, and it always defers to a visitor’s reduced-motion preference.
- App blocks and Custom Liquid wherever a block can go, the product page included, so apps and your own code survive a theme update.
- English plus 13 translations: French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Dutch, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, Swedish, Danish, Polish, and Arabic. They cover both the storefront and the theme editor, with full right-to-left support.
- WCAG 2.1 AA as the accessibility target throughout: landmarks and heading order, visible focus, full keyboard operation, and touch targets of at least 24 × 24px.
How this page is maintained
Section titled “How this page is maintained”Every released version gets its own entry here, newest at the top, naming what changed rather than restating what the theme does. Read the entries between your version and the latest one before you update, and you will know what to expect.
Version numbers follow the usual three parts. The third number is a fix, meaning a bug corrected with nothing new to set up. The second is a feature, meaning new sections or settings, which your existing settings keep working through. The first would be a change large enough to need work from you, and it would be described here in detail before it shipped.
Your installed version is shown in your Shopify admin under Online Store → Themes, next to Lapels in your theme library. Shopify never auto-updates an installed theme, so moving to a newer version is always your decision: duplicate your current copy first, update the duplicate, check it on Preview, and publish when you are satisfied. Install and update walks through it.
